Sunbird Software delivers DCIM software for data centers of all sizes. Headquartered in Somerset, NJ, Raritan supports a global customer base of about 850 DCIM clients. Its software solutions helps increase energy efficiency, improve reliability, and raise productivity in data centers.

Sunbird Software’s DCIM journey begins with its knowledge of this space. The company has been working with data centers for three decades with a presence in data center and lab locations across all industries and of all sizes: from small to hyperscale data centers; data centers that are geographically dispersed; traditional and colos; and data centers pushing the envelope with new ideas and architectures.

Among its partners is Raritan (now a Legrand Company), a technology solution working with rack power hardware offerings. Currently, Sunbird has a five-year strategic agreement with Raritan.

Sunbird has the core competencies needed to develop a DCIM solution that is easy to deploy, use, and scale within heterogeneous environments. Sunbird’s offerings center on dcTrack for DCIM Operations and PowerIQ for DCIM Monitoring.

“DCIM is a journey, not a sprint,” said Herman Chan, president of Sunbird. “In a confusing early market, our approach remains pragmatic and purposeful with a single goal: customer success. The winners will be those who can execute.”

Another concept around Sunbird's DCIM is that it does not try to fill every checkbox on an RFP. Features that are unique to their offering, such as Intelligent Asset Search or Psychrometric Charts with Thermal Envelopes, were added because customers had a real need for them. And, since Sunbird's software is widely used, the company is able to gain even more customer insights and drive successful deployments.

Founded by Ching-I Hsu, Sunbird's current chairman, its first DCIM solution (DCIM Monitoring) was introduced in September 2008. Several months later, DCIM Operations was introduced. DCIM Monitoring and Operations are designed to work together or independently and are available on a cabinet/month subscription or license basis.
