The forecast for the US data center market call for significant growth in 2011 and 2012 according to a study recently completed by Digital Realty Trust. Each year they survey over 300 executives at large US companies about their business and data center needs. The findings in this white paper are impressive.

Here are few details of this study:

  • 2/3 of the respondents had added data center capacity in the last 12 to 24 months

  • An amazing 85% report that will definitely/probably will expand their data center capacity in 2011

The research report on many of the key drivers for the data center expansion, among the top issues were concerns over power and efficiency. What I found most fascinating is that 2/3 these enterprise class data center operators were planning expansion at more than one location. Clearly the digitization of our media and regulations over record keeping are keeping data center operator busy simply planning for the near term needs. This  many characteristics of the expanding data center industry. Click here to download a complete copy of this report
