Located in Lenexa, Kansas, 1&1 Internet's primary U.S. data center for North American customers houses more than 40,000 servers. In this video, Christine Skiffington, 1&1 Social Media Manager, speaks with Thorsten Ziegler, lead of the 1&1 U.S. Data Center, about the location, physical security and redundancy plans of the data center for the Web hosting company. The video includes interior and exterior shots of the 55,000-square-foot facility. Lenexa, Kansas (with a mirror location in Kansas City) was selected as the site of the data center due to power pricing, reliability of power and network connectivity to both East and West coasts of the United States. Video runs 2:52 minutes.
