Data center architecture is in a stage of transformation, according to Jason Nolet, vice president, Data Center and Enterprise Networking Group at Brocade. He says private cloud extend the benefits of virtualization, offering the opportunity for similar gains in other areas such as the data center's network and storage capabilities. Further, the concept of a "pool of resources" which is elastic and quickly deployed, he says, turns the IT operation from a collection of technical assets to a services provided by the IT team. In this video from Brocade's recent Technology Day announcements, Nolet discusses how Brocade is driving greater agility and efficiencies within private cloud environments through the deployment of an Ethernet fabric that creates pooled resources that can be delivered on-demand for real-time applications and services.
John McHugh, Brocade's CMO, discusses the massive shifts in networking related to cloud, mobility and data-rich applications. He says that over the next five years, enterprises will spend $112 billion on Software as a Service, Platform as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service. Brocade asserts that networks have to be cloud optimized to support these changes. Their slogan - "The data center is here" - means that wherever you are and whenever you need to do business, the network integrity is critical.
