The early stages of construction on a Digital Realty Trust site in Santa Clara, Calif.
Digital Realty Trust (DLR) is the world's largest data center landlord, and regularly retrofits existing structures for use as mission-critical facilities. The company has streamlined its process to the point that it can complete a retrofit in just 26 weeks, compared to a year or more for many such conversions. Digital Realty recently posted a photo slideshow illustrating the process at its project at 1201 Comstock in Santa Clara, which documents the roof replacement, installation of UPS, generators and other mechanical and elctrical equipment, and commissioning. The facility, which has a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.37 at 100 percent load, was turned over to the client in January. See the full 42-photo presentation.
