Evaluating HP's Thermal Logic
Are you running a large data center servicing more than 50 end users? If so then energy is as much an issue as your hardware. Often the two seem to be separate challenges but HP has developed systems that inherently complement each other. This IDC technical brief highlights the importance of and practical benefits behind HP's Thermal Logic.

If you are running a large data center you know that energy concerns are as much an issue as the hardware in your facility. Often the two seem to be separate challenges but HP has developed systems that inherently complement each other. This IDC technical brief highlights the importance of and practical benefits behind HP's Thermal Logic.
Known for forging consolidated data center technology, HP realized the importance of the complete system when developing the Data Center Smart Grid. Thermal Logic is key to that strategy with a 3 prong end. Their goal is to:
1) Reduce energy consumption in the IT infrastructure - Through the development of technologies known as Dynamic Power Capping, Sea of Sensors, Common Slot Power Supplies and Insight control power management HP has made great strides in energy management.
2) Reclaim unused datacenter capacity - Given the fluctuating nature of power draw HP can help the enterprise determine how maximum capacity is not being met and available budget is being misused
3) Extend the life of the data center - When consumption is being reduced and capacity is being properly managed then equipment can have a longer period of productivity, a true monetary metric.
This IDC Technical Brief takes an in depth look at these three points. As a data center professional this white paper is very helpful in considering a complete power solution.
