FiberNet Telecom Group (FTGX) will convert 8,000 square feet of currently unoccupied colocation space at its 165 Halsey Street location in Newark, New Jersey into finished data center space, the company said this morning. The conversion will include a power upgrade that will provide 150 watts per square foot for FiberNet's data center customers.

The new Halsey Street colo site will be fully integrated with FiberNet's other colocation facilities and data centers, including the Meet-Me-Room at 60 Hudson Street in New York. It is expected to be fully operational in the fourth quarter of this year. FiberNet said it will fund the development of the facility with existing cash and its credit facility.
