Interconnection service provider FiberNet Telecom Group has launched a subsidiary, Availius LLC, to offer data center facility management services. The new unit recently completed its first project, a data center relocation for search engine company Hakia Inc., according to a FiberNet press release (PDF).
Availius relocated Hakia's data center from Manhattan's 60 Hudson Street carrier hotel to 165 Halsey Street in Newark, N.J. while keeping the front-end completely operational. Hakia, which is still in beta, is scheduled to debut as a full-capacity search engine in the third quarter of 2006.
"Availius was launched with the vision of leveraging FiberNet's intellectual capital and implementation capabilities," said Jon A. DeLuca, President and CEO, FiberNet. "With clients like hakia recognizing the value proposition we bring to the marketplace and entrusting business-critical projects to Availius, we could not have asked for a better start."
FiberNet described Availius as an "intellectual capital and resource company" that guides clients through the complexities of constructing, upgrading, relocating, or managing data centers and network facilities.
