More than 140 peering experts from Equinix, Switch and Data, Terremark Worldwide, AMS-IX, DE-CIX and Force10 Networks will take party in the inaugural Global Peering Forum March 18-23, which is structured as an invitation-only Caribbean departing cruise from in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

The event is designed to bring together peering coordinators from North America, South America, Europe and Asia to discuss interconnection of their autonomous networks. The cruise will feature presentations from industry experts on peering rollouts, policies, trends and technical topics related to peering.

Among the expected participants are some folks who are well-known in the data center world, including Josh Snowhorn, Peering Coordinator for Terremark; William Norton, Chief Technical Liaison for Equinix; Ali Marashi, the CIO for Switch & Data; Henk Steenman, CTO for AMS-IX; Harald Summa, CEO for DE-CIX; and Barrett Lyon, CTO for Prolexic Technologies.

Is it just me, or is it odd that this event is scheduled opposite AFCOM's Data Center World?
