Global Net Access(GNAX), a veteran player in the Atlanta hosting and colo market, is expanding to Dallas, where it intends to take on the world's leading dedicated hosting providers on their own turf.

GNAX, which operates the AtlantaNAP, has set up shop in the Telx facility at 8435 Stemmons. The new site will be known as DallasNAP, and will provide managed colocation and the company's NetDepot line of dedicated servers.

"This market represents the center of the dedicated market and we believe we will fill a need for cost-effective high quality solutions that have gone by the wayside," said Jeff Hinkle, President of GNAX. "We are coming to Dallas as a very healthy entity and intend on shaking things up in the market, which will be of great benefit to the customers who have seen prices increase in the past year."

The Dallas area hosts primary data centers for many of the industry's largest dedicated hosting companies, including The Planet, Rackspace, SoftLayer, Layered Technologies and CIHost. The area has also seen growth in the colocation business, with expansions by Telx, Horizon Data Centers and ViaWest.

GNAX said it will launch its Dallas operations Feb. 15, and will have diverse fiber paths to both the Infomart and 2323 Bryan. As part of the expansion, GNAX will geographically diversify its DNS clusters.

Hinkle said that a third location in the US will be announced in the second half of 2009.
