August 14, 2007
The NewTeeVee blog recently examined the growing number of peer-to-peer (P2P) delivery platforms available for online video, including several that offer streaming. We've touched on this topic previously, but the extraordinary growth of video traffic over the past year has generated interest in P2P as a delivery mechanism. A number of the services mentioned by NewTeeVee's Janko Roettgers are focused on BitTorrent distribution, but others are serving as YouTube-style video portals for user-generated content.
The article notes that files on Amazon's S3 service can be accessed as a BitTorrent download. Users can upload videos to S3, and the service will generate torrent files.
