A data center startup, Immedion, LLC, has announced plans to plans to open a data center in Greenville, South Carolina in August. Immedion, which is based in Greenville, plans to deliver managed services in the 14,400 square foot facility in Global Business Park, which will include 5,000 square feet of data center technical space (with expansion space).
Immedion is backed by Comporium Communications, the nation's 17th largest independent local exchange carrier. The new venture is headed by CEO Frank Mobley and COO Rob Moser, who are each 20-year veterans of the technology industry.
As the first data center in the Greenville area, Immedion is offering a local service option for companies who would otherwise travel to Atlanta or Charlotte for colocation and managed services. "Immedion is bringing a facility and service set normally found in much larger metropolitan areas to Greenville and that's exciting for the entire technology community," says John Ludwig, CEO of Greenville-based SDI Networks, which is working with Cisco to provide Immedion's core Internet network systems.
