Here’s our review of some of this week’s noteworthy links for the global data center industry:

Gyron to build new Slough data center.  UK data center provider Gyron announced that it is building a new data center in Slough,  located just outside London. The 56,700 square foot facility will consist of dual redundant 8MW power suppliers from two dedicated on-site HV substations. The "Ajax" data center will complement the existing Gyron owned and operated Maylands and Centro facilities located in Hemel Hempstead, and bring Gyron’s total announced power capacity to 19MW. “The Ajax facility is a fantastic opportunity to offer new and existing customers access to our environmentally friendly Tier IV aligned facilities in geographically diverse locations for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions,” siad Robin Balen, Managing Director at Gyron. "We plan on providing our colocation services at a class-leading PUE of between 1.2 and 1.3, with all power supplied from 100% green renewable sources, and we will be extending our ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 27001 (Information Security) external certifications to cover this facility."

SuccessFactors opens Australia data center.  SuccessFactors, an SAP company and global leader in business execution software, has announced the opening of its new data center in Australia as part of its commitment to the market and the Asia Pacific region. Located in Sydney the data center is a Federal government panel certified facility and ISO 27001 certified, and has a LEED Gold rating from the US Green Building Council. The facility will host the full SuccessFactors Business Execution (BizX) suite, to be delivered locally in the Australian cloud to clients throughout the Asia Pacific region. "The new data centre opening comes at a perfect time as it is designed to meet the rapidly growing hosting demands of the Australian government and local businesses customers," said Murray Sargant, SuccessFactors vice president, Asia Pacific. "We have a very strong presence in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane, so many of our customers will find it helpful to have access to a data centre which offers premium support and optimal reliability in the country. We are committed to advancing Australia as a cloud computing hub for the region and we are very excited about the growth potential the data centre will bring to the APAC market."

Fujitsu selects Spain for HPC Hub.  Fujitsu announced that it has selected Spain for its fifth hub for High Performance Computing (HPC) in Europe. Citing 5 percent of the EMEA market for supercomputing being in Spain, Fujitsu will be setting up HPC sales and support services as a part of its Global Innovation Network. Fujitsu’s work will build on innovations already carried out with the world’s fastest supercomputer, the K Computer, and develop PRIME HPC FX10, a massive scale machine that can provide speeds of up to 23 petaflops with high energy efficiency with consumption of just 1.4MW.
