Content delivery provider Akamai Technologies (AKAM) will provide traffic management for BroadRelay's SIVOO, an Internet TV network offering multicultural on-demand entertainment programming. Sivoo provides more than 20,000 hours of programming in Spanish, Chinese, and Hindi, with both ad-supported and subscription content delivered through an Internet browser to PCs, televisions, portable devices and mobile phones. Analysts at ComScore see this niche as a growth market, projecting that the audience for multicultural Internet TV will double in size over the next year to more than 26 million.
"Our agreement with Akamai will open up opportunities for even more people to enjoy and experience their favorite programs from around the world," said Burhan Fatah, PhD, SIVOO's founder, president and chief executive officer. "We are excited by the potential this relationship holds for the further growth of multicultural Internet TV and SIVOO."
"SIVOO is at the leading edge of the convergence between television and the Internet, and is helping to drive the future of entertainment," said Brad Rinklin, vice president of marketing at Akamai. "The Internet has become the platform of choice for consumers in search of anytime/anywhere entertainment, and SIVOO is a prime example of that preference."
SIVOO is the Internet TV brand of BroadRelay Inc. Founded in 2000, SIVOO is the first Internet TV network of multicultural on-demand entertainment, and serves the fastest growing segments of the U.S. population.
