An influx of Japanese customers has boosted business at Dataside's Las Vegas data center facility, the company tells the Las Vegas Business Press. The Dallas-based provider, formerly known as Collocation Solutions, has three new Japanse companies as customers at its facility at 302 E. Carson St., and is in discussions with several more.
"From what I gather, (Japanese firms) are mostly looking at the Western U.S., but the West Coast can be unstable," said Dataside Las Vegas Branch Manager Tom Stimmel, noting that Southern California is an active earthquake zone. "Denver has been popular but the downside is that sometimes the airport gets snowed in. Las Vegas is attractive because it is a very low corporate risk" of outages due to disaster or weather.
