Providence Factory Becomes Data Center

A 40,000 square foot former jewelry factory In Providence, Rhode Island is being converted into a data center, according to Providence Business News. The former Crest Craft jewelry factory already has several web hosting tenants in a 10,000 square foot space, and owners Lindsay Ahlborg and Edward Schultz are converting the remainder of the space to provide data center services and renaming the site the Westminster Technology Center. An excerpt:
"One of the main things we have going for us here is we're located right on the main fiber-optic trunk line in the city, so it's a very desirable location," Ahlborg said.
The building will be able to accommodate tenants needing space as small as 250 square feet to as large as 6,000 square feet. The facility is at 1155 Westminster Street in Providence.
