Here’s our review of today’s noteworthy links for the data center industry:

CA AppLogic selected for IGT Cloud.  CA Technologies (CA) announced that International Game Technology (IGT) selected the CA AppLogic turnkey cloud computing platform for delivering its advanced casino software as a service via the cloud. Using the AppLogic platform IGT will be able to reach new markets where adoption and cost barriers exist around traditional software deployments. It will virtualize all components of the data center within a software layer, giving IGT the flexibility to offer their customers options in how they consume their systems technology while removing the burden of managing a large infrastructure footprint. IGT Cloud initially will deliver efficiency and value to casino operators utilizing a Software as a Service (SaaS) model. “Casinos of all sizes will find it more cost effective and have higher agility in managing their gaming content through the IGT Cloud,” said Chris Satchell, CTO & EVP of R&D, IGT. “Using the IGT Cloud, customers will be able to optimize and monitor their operations and rapidly adapt the mix of games on their casino floor to match their customers’ tastes. Thanks to the simplicity and power of the CA AppLogic platform, IGT is able accelerate providing cloud solutions to casino operators, allowing them to focus on their customers rather than their infrastructure.”

Peak 10 enhances Private Cloud offering.  Peak 10 announced that the company has enhanced its private cloud service offering by adding a new virtual private delivery option. The offering, termed Virtual Private Data Center (VPDC), provides Peak 10’s customers with the same security and data isolation sought in dedicated, private clouds along with adding the elasticity and economies of scale that can be achieved through multi-tenant resource pooling. The new delivery model enables customers to deploy, run, and manage complex, dynamic application environments underpinned by pools of computing resources managed by Peak 10.  “Peak 10’s VPDC services are aimed at providing the same capabilities of a physical data center environment without the confines of traditional physical infrastructure such as rack space and cabling,” said Ken Seitz, Peak 10’s manager of product strategy. “The VPDC delivers private networking components, guaranteed compute resource availability and performance, and high performance, multi-tiered storage services. All of which are enhanced by elasticity, scalability and financial economies of scale which can only be achieved through some degree of multi-tenancy. It delivers on the promise of cloud in a way that a completely dedicated infrastructure never could.”

IO selected by Mytek Network Solutions.  IO announced today that it was awarded a contract with Mytek Network Solutions, a leader in IT support services. Mytek provides IT Support Services to clients ranging from municipalities to large enterprises, offering a wide range of services including Managed IT Services, Branded Help Desk Support, and Software Development. Using the modular IO.Anywhere platform IO will provide Mytek with Data Center as a Service (DCaaS) at IO Phoenix. "IO's technology provided us with the right geographic solution that can easily scale as our requirements grow," said Brian Blakley, President of Mytek Network Solutions. "Knowing IO is a trusted partner makes them a great choice for us today and tomorrow."
