Here’s our review of some of this week’s noteworthy links for the data center industry:

FireHost launches services in Phoenix. Secure cloud hosting specialist FireHost announced is now offering services at a state-of-the-art data center in Phoenix, Arizona. Clients can now deploy secure cloud servers in Phoenix, Dallas or London directly through their MyFireHost customer portal. "Phoenix is an ideal location for data centers due to the extremely low incidence of natural disasters like tornadoes, flooding and earthquakes," said Jason Rieger, CTO of FireHost. "This new location gives our customers another secure option for primary or disaster recovery environments. The main benefits of this addition are that FireHost is widening its data center footprint and giving our customers more freedom and options."

Telx selected by Black Lotus.  Telx announced that Black Lotus has leveraged Telx’s C3 Cloud Connection Center in Los Angeles, to strengthen its protection and mitigation solutions against DDoS attacks. With the Telx Connect Portfolio Black Lotus can select its preferred carriers to quickly and effectively trace the source of network traffic that is often the cause of DDoS attacks. "An effective, immediate response to a DDOS attack on a customer’s web site is dependent on our ability to work with associated network third parties, such as Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and carriers," said Jeffrey Lyon, President of Black Lotus. "By colocating our IT infrastructure in Telx’s L.A. facility and leveraging its large array of carrier connectivity choices, Black Lotus has the ability to access vital Tier 1 infrastructure information in a carrier-neutral fashion, helping us better serve our customers and mitigating future DDoS attacks."

Internap selected by Sahara Force India.  Internap Network Services (INAP) announced it has been selected as the official supplier of web hosting and content delivery network services to Sahara Force India, a Formula One racing team, based in Silverstone, United Kingdom. Sahara's website received more than a half million visits last year from around the world and as an initiative to launch a new site it needed a reliable, high-performance web hosting environment to deliver the site globally. The team selected Internap's managed hosting, Performance IP, Accelerated IP (XIP) and Content Delivery Network services. "Growing our brand and our international fan base requires that we build a strong web presence,” said Dr. Vijay Mallya, team principal and managing director of Sahara Force India. “But the global nature of our sport means that this presence is always on the move, so our fans need to be able to follow us whether they are at the track or on the other side of the world. Thanks to Internap’s hosting solutions and 100% uptime service level guarantee, we can seamlessly interact with our fans wherever they are and whenever they want.”

TelecityGroup recertifies accreditations.  TelecityGroup announced that all its data centres in France have been recertified with the ISO 27001:2005 for Information Security, ISO 14001:2004 for Envrionment, ISO 9001:2008 for quality, and OHSAS 18001:2007 for Occupational Health and Safety accreditations. Data centers were recertified to these standards following a six day audit from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LQRA), and analyzed management systems, technical facilities, employee structure, and energy efficiency credentials. In addition to these standards, TelecityGroup’s data centres in France are also PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant.
