Here’s our review of today’s noteworthy links for the data center industry:

Internap selected by Scholastic. Internap Network Services (INAP) announced that Scholastic Education, which specializes in  children’s publishing,  is using Internap’s Dedicated Private Cloud solution with route-optimized Performance IP network to provide high availability access to its web-based educational programs for K-12 schools nationwide. The private cloud platform will migrate Scholastic from the traditional software license model to supporting a next-generation Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) delivery model for Scholastic’s core instructional and assessment programs. "Internap worked with us on the front end to develop a tailored solution that met our unique requirements and continues to provide outstanding service, including a dedicated, single point of contact and 24/7 support from knowledgeable engineers," said D. Midian Kurland, senior vice president, Scholastic Education. "Internap optimized its solutions around our customers’ needs, not their own operational needs, so we can continue providing the highest standard of customer service that schools and districts expect from Scholastic."

Peak 10 selected by VirTech.  Peak 10 announced today it is supporting the IT infrastructure of VirTech Systems LLC, which specializes in consulting, hosting, virtualization, networking, EDM, security, HIPAA compliance as well as other IT services. Peak 10 is delivering data protection services including Remote Hands and backup as well as cooling, power redundancy and burstable Internet.  "We chose to work with Peak 10 because its team of experts was very accommodating," said Juddson Tyler Spore, president of VirTech Systems. "Additionally, our customers know that since our systems are now housed in a fortified building that has SSAE 16 certification and a fully redundant power, Internet and cooling environment, their data will remain highly available and secure."

AboveNet expands Atlanta connectivity.  AboveNet (ABVT) announced it has made a major expansion into the Atlanta metro market. New low-latency, fiber optic routes will specifically extend AboveNet’s reach to enterprise and carrier customers in downtown Atlanta, Alpharetta, Buckhead and Norcross. Quality Technologies Services (QTS) connects to AboveNet's  high performance network in Atlanta, where it has two large data centers. "Gartner estimates that 10 percent of the national digital traffic flows through the Atlanta corridor, serving as the major hub linking high growth Southern markets to the Northeast in the U.S. and to international markets,” said Dan O'Connell, Research Director at Gartner. “Atlanta is home to key economic growth centers including education, energy, health care, transportation, and high technology, as well as serving as the headquarters for numerous Fortune 500 companies.”
