Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:
Interxion upgrades in Dusseldorf. Interxion (INXN) announced the expansion and upgrade of its Dusseldorf data center. Set to be completed in the spring, the 500 square meter (5,382 square foot) expansion will allow Interxion to keep pace with customer demand for colocation space and services. The company will also increase the power grid connection to 20 MVA, add two new transformers, expand UPS capacity and add new air conditioning systems. "This expansion is being driven by our most technically demanding customers, and as a result it will allow us to maintain our edge in the delivery of highly redundant, highly reliable services with the highest possible power density to new as well as existing customers,” explained Peter Knapp, Managing Director, Interxion Germany.
Paetec opens Phoenix data center. Paetec celebrated the grand opening of its newest data center Tuesday in Phoenix, Arizona. With the opening of this data center Paetec will offer businesses secure and scalable colocation services with capabilities up to one Gbps. "We've seen the demand for data centers and network-based services increase, and we expect it to continue to pick up momentum over the next decade," said Arunas Chesonis, chairman and CEO, PAETEC. "This new data center fits our strategy of enabling cloud-based technologies and business continuity options for our customers to safeguard information, decrease management needs, and reduce network latency."
PacketExchange joins Telx. Telx announced that PacketExchange, a next generation Ethernet and IP network service provider with reach across Europe, North America and Asia, has joined the Telx Ethernet Exchange. "As a global service provider, we can view the Telx Ethernet Exchange as an added local presence here in the U.S., rounding out our national footprint and enabling us to offer under-served geographic regions competitive access to global Ethernet services,” explained Grant Kirkwood, Chief Technology Officer of PacketExchange.
Peak 10 selected by Emerson Software Solutions. Peak 10 announced it is delivering its Cloud Plus platform to Emerson Software Solutions, a provider of comprehensive risk management tools for corporations and public entities. “As soon as we implemented Peak 10’s Cloud Plus solution, we began receiving very positive feedback on system performance," said Earne Bentley, vice president of systems implementation at Emerson Software Solutions. "Speed and uptime are critical, and having all of the SSAE 16 audited networking operations, managed 24x7, allows our clients to focus on their businesses." The virtual architecture for Emerson will be located at Peak 10's Raleigh data center.
