Here's a roundup of industry news from yesterday's wire reports and press releases:
Telx said it has partnered with the Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) to install a new F-root nameserver in Telx’s co-location and interconnection facility at 56 Marietta Street in Atlanta, Ga. The new F-root nameserver helps improve Internet response times for customers connected to the Telx Internet Exchange (TIE) service in Atlanta. "Deploying an F-root nameserver within Telx’s Atlanta facility was a strategic business move for ISC, as it allows us to increase the resilience of the Internet in the Atlanta area and our geographical diversity across the US," said Paul Vixie, President of ISC.
Emerson Network Power introduced enhanced versions of the company’s Liebert PSA and Liebert PSI-XR UPS products. The units provide reliable power protection for home offices and small data centers or IT rooms, and meet strict environmental guidelines by complying with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS). RoHS prohibits the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacturing of electronics, making them more environmentally friendly at the end of their life.
Layered Technologies, Inc. launched an automated platform that it says will accelerate the availability and provisioning of servers for its customers and partners. The "Astro" platform provides flexibility and eliminates delays during server procurement. Once a server is racked and powered, the system automatically evaluates the equipment and populates the Layered Tech inventory, making the server immediately available to both customers and partners. Customers can buy servers directly through Layered Tech’s Web site, and a new open API allows partners to display inventory and coordinate sales in real-time from their own Web sites.
Cloud Storage platform provider Nirvanix announced the appointment of Jim Zierick as its President and Chief Executive Officer. He comes to Nirvanix from a post as CEO of Aspyra Inc., a leading provider of clinical and diagnostic information solutions for the healthcare industry, where he still serves as a member of the companys Board of Directors. He previously served as CEO of LogicalApps, a provider of embedded controls software for enterprise applications prior to its sale to Oracle.
