Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:
Viridity launches EnergyCenter 2.0. Viridity Software announced the release of its EnergyCenter version 2.0 (v2.0) software. EnergyCenter v2.0 features key product enhancements that enable the data center, IT or facilities manager to more easily, cost effectively and accurately plan for and execute, expansion, consolidation, virtualization and/or cloud initiatives. Enhancements made in the new version include user defined asset grouping, VMware virtual guest power analysis, heat mapping, advanced auto alert, enhanced import/export, and extended data center genome database. "Viridity’s EnergyCenter software has a unique approach and set of functions, especially in the way that it is able to discover assets and accurately measure power consumption without the use of extra devices," said Andy Lawrence, Program Director of the Uptime Institute Symposium and Research Director for Eco-Efficient IT and Datacenter Technologies, The 451 Group. "This means it can be deployed within minutes, enabling customers to start optimizing their power and cooling, and to simulate and plan their use of datacenter resources." EnergyCenter v.2.0 general availability is planned for July 2011.
Netuitive launches version 5.5. Netuitive announced its latest release, vesion 5.5 of its predictive analytics software that forecasts, identifies and resolves IT issues before they impact quality of service. New features in version 5.5 include a flexible on-view dashboard, chargeback reports, and support for multi-hypervisor environments including Microsoft Hyper-V. The software is powered by their patented Behavior Learning Engine which provides predictive analytics for managing the performance of applications and their underlying infrastructures. "In preparation for deploying a private cloud, organizations must get the management of their virtual data center under control," said Donna Scott, Gartner vice president and distinguished analyst. "Predictive analytics enabled by Behavior Learning technology is critical for real-time performance visibility and diagnosis required to optimize the user experience. Predictive analytics should be part of any risk mitigation strategy as organizations evolve from virtualization management to cloud computing and real-time infrastructure."
