John Savageau has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of CRG West, the data center developer said yesterday. In his new role, Savageau will focus on expanding CRG West’s peering offerings and infrastructure. He most recently held the position of Managing Director and played an integral role in CRG West’s expansion from two data centers on the West Coast to its current footprint of 11 data centers in seven metropolitan areas across the U.S.

Savageau created CRG West’s Any2 Exchange platform and led the development of the company’s industry-leading branch-circuit monitoring system and online customer resource center. As CTO, Savageau will continue to lead the company’s ongoing evaluation of technologies that shape communications, data center design and management.

“We are pleased that John has accepted the role of CTO," said Thomas M. Ray, President and CEO of CRG West. "John has led CRG West’s advances and development in technology since he joined the company and will lead us further as we expand our offerings and capabilities with regard to peering, cloud computing, and other customer-facing applications. Further, John will continue to lead all areas of the company’s ICT operations. This targeted role enables John to further capitalize on his passion to make the world’s information and communication technology more accessible and efficient.”

Prior to joining CRG West, Savageau was CEO of MagicNet in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where he led Internet infrastructure development and provided data solutions to the rapidly growing mining industry. As a pioneer in technology implementation, he has also held leadership positions at Pihana Pacific, Level 3 International, and Sprint International/Global One. Savageau served as a career US Air Force officer and holds a Master of Science in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies and Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland.

“This is an exciting opportunity to further develop information and communications infrastructure solutions, allowing CRG West to actively facilitate the growth and success of our valued international client community,” said Savageau. “During my nearly five years at CRG West, the company has consistently invested in R&D and the implementation of customer-utility technologies. I’m pleased to have the opportunity to help further advance CRG West as it focuses even more strongly in these areas.”
