Captain Sullenberger

Captain Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger, pilot of the "Miracle on the Hudson" airline incident, and contributor for CBS News, will be the keynote speaker at the Gartner Data Center Conference on December 3-6 at The Venetian Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas. Sullenberger's address is titled, "Preparing for Excellence: Leading Your Team to Success."

Sullenberger will highlight the fact that preparation, training and leadership make all the difference when one is confronted with a challenge. From his early career as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, to his ongoing work in commercial aviation as a pilot and safety trainer, this hero's life-long pursuit of learning and investing in himself shows the importance of education and preparedness, and illustrates that true leaders must always lead by example.

Other keynote speakers will include humorist Dave Barry as well as Gartner researchers, such as Dave Cappuccio, Managing VP and Chief of Research; Raymond Paquet, Managing VP; and Cameron Haight, Research VP.

The Gartner event, aimed at data center professionals on both the IT and facilities teams, going strong after more than 30 years, is the longest running event community of data center professionals.

The two-day event has a comprehensive agenda that will provide powerful recommendations to address these pressing challenges and help professionals advance the performance of their data center. Forty-seven Gartner analysts will offer a view of key trends shaping the enterprise and the data center, now and for the next five years. Conference sessions address every major data center discipline: IT infrastructure, servers, operating systems, IT operational excellence, storage, business continuity and disaster recovery.
