T-Systems will expand its data center footprint with a new 34,655-square-foot facility in Tempe, Arizona, occupying turn-key data center space from Digital Realty Trust (DLR). The company said the data center will be used to provide IT services for a major wireless network provider.
"Our partnership with Digital Reality Trust complements our North American data center strategy and enables T-Systems to focus on our core competency of providing a standardized and efficient IT infrastructure service for our clients," said Heike Auerbach, CFO, T-Systems North America.
"The collaborative arrangement with Digital Realty Trust delivers agility and flexibility for both T-Systems and our client because it eliminates the need to invest speculative capital into excess data center capacity, and it positions us to rapidly meet the specific capacity and geography requirements of our prospective clients," he added.
"We are pleased that T-Systems selected us as its data center facility partner," said Michael Foust, CEO of Digital Realty Trust. "Our unique approach enables companies like T-Systems to respond rapidly to market opportunities by dramatically reducing the time to market for new data centers. Our customers reduce financial risk by partnering with a company with world-class engineering and an operations team."
T-Systems said it now manages more than 80 data centers worldwide, including nine in North America.
