Data center service provider TELEHOUSE America is expanding its New York International Internet Exchange (NYIIX) into the CoreSite Realty data center at 32 Avenue of the Americas. The addition of the NYIIX, the largest public internet exchange in the New York metro market, will boost connectivity at CoreSite’s 32 Avenue of the Americas data center by deploying the peering fabric with redundant equipment and dark fiber.
The addition of NYIIX is part of CoreSite’s larger program to build its Open Internet Exchange Hub, providing direct access to and bringing together internet exchanges from Europe, North America, and other leading global carriers. The Open Internet Exchange Hub launched this week, and will provide customers with a broader range of interconnection and peering opportunities
"We are pleased to host NYIIX, New York City’s largest peering exchange in our facility in New York," said Eric Bell, General Manager Network and Interconnection at CoreSite. "This expansion will be a critical part of our growing Open Internet Exchange Hub. CoreSite’s network, content and cloud customers depend on us to provide flexible, scalable interconnection solutions and the expansion of NYIIX into our location is an enhancement that will give them new options for interconnecting their networks and building business-critical ecosystems."
"As NYIIX is one of the world’s largest peering exchanges, the addition of 32 Avenue of the Americas clearly represents our commitment to expand the service areas and grow the number of participants, and we look forward to providing its customers with quality peering service," said Akio Sugeno, Vice President of Internet Engineering, Operations and Business Development for TELEHOUSE America.
32 Avenue of the Americas was built in 1932 by AT&T, and for many years was one of the city’s critical communications hubs, along with the Western Union building at 60 Hudson Street. The 27-floor, 1.15 million square foot property was purchased by the Rudin Organization in 1999.
