USA Today spotlights the data center industry in a feature story published today. The story by Judy Keen uses the Digital Realty Trust building at 350 East Cermak in Chicago as the jumping off-point for a broader overview of the data center landscape. The story includes data from analyst Michelle Bailey of IDC, who estimates that about $22 billion will be spent on new data centers worldwide this year. It also includes a chart from IDC showing 7,043 data centers in the U.S. and 13,085 globally.
