Dell Tied to Data Center in Washington State - Dell has purchased property in the growing data center hub of Quincy, Washington in connection with a secretive data center project known as “Project Roosevelt.â€
i/o Data Centers Plans Huge NJ Expansion - i/o Data Centers is planning to build a huge data center in New Jersey to serve as the East Coast hub for its growing colocation business. The company is in the late stages of site selection for a modular data center that will support at least 550,000 square feet of space.
QTS Opens Huge Richmond Data Center - QTS (Quality Technology Services) has opened its new, 1.3 million square foot data center campus in Richmond this week, two months ahead of schedule. The 50,000 square foot first phase of development came online Monday and offers customers up to 18 megawatts of power.
First Look: Opera’s Iceland Data Center - Opera Software has posted a slideshow of photos from its new container data center in Iceland. The facility features data center containers from Spanish tech firm AST Global that use fresh air cooling, allowing servers to run without the use of chillers for air conditioning.
Windstream Buys Hosted Solutions for $310M - Broadband Internet specialist Windstream Corp. (WIN) has entered into a definitive agreement with ABRY Partners to acquire managed hosting provider Hosted Solutions in an all-cash transaction valued at $310 million.
How Facebook Tames High-Density Racks - After a period of breakneck growth, Facebook is now focusing on improving the energy efficiency of its data centers, and high-density racks represent some of the biggest opportunities.
