At the recent O'Reilly OSCON conference, Simon Wardley of Canonical Ltd. provides some context for the current discussions of cloud computing in an entertaining presentation titled "Cloud Computing: Why IT Matters." Simon reviews the current confusion around definitions - yes, there are at least 67 of them - and many cloud technologies, and then moves beyond them to discuss the importance of the larger business trend. "It's not about a specific technology," he says. Canonical maintains the Ubuntu Linux distribution, which now includes Eucalyptus to allow companies to test-drive private clouds. This video runs about 14 minutes.
