Joyent and enStratus partner.  Joyent and enStratus announced the full integration of Joyent’s Cloud API and management infrastructure into the enStratus cloud management platform. New capabilities that the enStratus offering brings to the Joyent Cloud include granular financial and resource controls, server deployment automation, multi-cloud management in a single dashboard, configuration management and security and user access controls. "As enterprises embrace the cloud, the tools to streamline management of these dynamic environments are critical to business operations," said David Bagley, CEO of enStratus. "Joyent Cloud delivers performance, transparency and reliability to enterprises in fast growing verticals like online games and mobile communications, so we are excited to partner with them to help their customers better manage their cloud deployments with enStratus."

Amazon announces Amazon Simple Workflow Service.  Amazon (AMZN) announced Simple Workflow Service (SWF), a workflow service for coordinating the various processing steps in an application and managing distributed execution state. SWF will make it easy for developers to architect and implement tasks that need to be performed in a particular sequence driven by a set of dynamic conditions. Features of SWF include a consistent execution state management, reliable task distribution, full control over application execution and a programming framework that helps developers easily incorporate asynchronous and event-driven programming into their applications using Amazon SWF. Amazon CTO Werner Vogels discusses the new orchestration service and RightScale talks about how they have been testing SWF as a back end service for a number of months.
