Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the cloud computing sector:
Terremark and URS DoD certify Federal Cloud solution. Terremark and its delivery partner, URS-Apptis, announced that The Enterprise Cloud: Federal Edition is one of the first Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions to be certified for compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements, as tested and verified by the DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP). Terremark and URS-Apptis complied with stringent DoD security requirements through configuration and testing to verify that DoD applications are highly secure and reliable. "With our federal-only cloud platform being among the first shared infrastructure systems to receive DIACAP certification, we have once again proven the leading-edge nature of our secure cloud offerings," said Jamie Dos Santos, President & CEO of Terremark Federal Group. "This certification helps to assure our current and prospective government customers that the cloud infrastructure we have designed specifically for federal agencies meets the high standards for security set by the DoD and provides the reliable cloud-based computing resources they need to run applications vital to their missions."
Nimbula updates IaaS and expands ecosystem. Nimbula announced the immediate availability of Nimbula Director 1.5, an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for managing compute and storage resources. The new edition supports a single login view to manage multi-site clouds and can supports a geographically distributed cloud. New features include policy based automation, persistent block store, and a customizable installer for packaging choice of operating system, drivers and management software. Nimbula continues to grow its best-of‐breed partner ecosystem to expand support of Nimbula Director from Platform as a Service (PaaS) and DevOps application lifecycle management to persistent storage solutions. Nimbula announced partnerships with Atalanta Systems, Electric Cloud and Standing Cloud in order to provide the optimal platform for developers to build and deploy applications. “Cloud infrastructure is widely used among engineering teams in the enterprise to support software development, testing and deployment," said Mike Maciag, CEO of Electric Cloud. "Nimbula Director is designed to service that market. With Nimbula and Electric Cloud, teams can automatically manage the lifecycle of cloud resources to achieve greater development agility, create higher quality software and speed time-to‐market."
Hexagrid unveils Unovie.
