Here's one to watch: StorageZilla reports that EMC is building data centers to support its Decho cloud storage initiative, which was formed by merging acquisitions Mozy and Pi Corporation.

"This year the Cloud Infrastructure Division is going to light up more more data centers for Mozy and the other applications running on the Decho Personal Information Platform," writes Mark Twomey. "Currently some are further along than others, but they're all happening."

The new infrastructure will be built in the US, Europe and Asia, Twomey writes, adding a tongue-in-cheek reference to a facility planned for the Arctic. We have to agree that a data center design based on the Fortress of Solitude would be cool.
