Recent developments in the Hadoop world include GoGrid joining with Cloudera in its partner program and Dataguise rolling out an enterprise-grade data privacy protection and risk assessment solution for Hadoop.
GoGrid, a cloud infrastructure company, has teamed with Cloudera, a provider of Apache Hadoop-based data management software and services. By joining the Cloudera Connect Partner Program, GoGrid aims to accelarate the adoption of Apache Hadoop business applications. The program combines technology solutions vendors, value added resellers (VARs) and managed service providers (MSPs) offering Hadoop-based solutions and services into a single ecosystem.
“GoGrid delivers high-performance hardware that’s a strong fit for customers looking for a production-grade Big Data environment,” said Rupert Tagnipes, senior product manager at GoGrid. “We’re excited to work with Cloudera to bring their experience and excellence in developing Hadoop solutions to GoGrid’s proven hybrid cloud infrastructure.”
San Francisco-based GoGrid offers public and private cloud tools that enable sysadmins, developers and IT professionals to create, deploy, and control cloud environments and complex virtual and physical server networks with full administrative control.
Dataguise, a data security and protection firm, launched an data privacy protection and risk assessment tool for Hadoop. The new solution, DgHadoop, provides compliance assessment and enforcement for centralized data privacy protection, simplifying data compliance management. Because environments such as Hadoop include very large data sets of mixed classifications and security sensitivities, they are particularly prone to data privacy breaches
“We live in a time of data proliferation and much of today’s ‘new’ data doesn’t reside in traditional enterprise data sources such as relational databases or enterprise applications,” said Manmeet Singh, CEO, Dataguise. “The data can be anywhere, on premises or in the cloud, and companies need to reliably enforce data privacy policies regardless of where it is stored."
DgHadoop delivers a method for enterprise-class sensitive data detection, protection and actionable intelligence, applying the most appropriate measures to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
In today's big data world, when so much data is aggregated into one environment, the risk of data theft or accidental disclosure is substantially increased because a single point of access to potentially millions of records exists. The detection and protection of sensitive data contained in these large data repositories is critical to the management of privacy policy enforcement and control to minimize the risk of data compromise.
