After launching the company earlier this spring, Pivotal has now announced the availability of Pivotal One, a comprehensive, multi-cloud Enterprise PaaS comprised of a set of application and data services that run on top of Pivotal CF, the leading enterprise distribution of the Cloud Foundry platform. New Pivotal One services will work in conjunction with Pivotal CF to integrate differentiated data services such as Hadoop and visual analytics into the enterprise PaaS experience.
The Pivotal CF enterprise Cloud Foundry platform features CF Elastic Runtime Service – a scalable runtime environment, extensible to most modern frameworks or languages running on Linux. Deployed applications leverage built-in services, and can automatically bind to new data services or to an existing user provided service. CF Operations manager acts as an enterprise PaaS management platform with IaaS integration. Various Pivotal One services are available as add-ons, such as HD service - for building and operating Hadoop as a natively integrated Pivotal CF Service, AX Service - for analytics software, RabbitMQ message broker, or MySQL service for using the MySQL service.
“As we stated when we started the company, we set out to deliver a new platform for a new era," said Paul Maritz, CEO of Pivotal. "Today we are proud to introduce Pivotal One, comprised of Pivotal CF and the first set of Pivotal One services, which will empower businesses to create applications and deliver new features to customers at a velocity and scale previously only available to Internet giants. We are bringing this speed and scale to some of the most important companies in the world, each of which can now better use data and analytics to build applications and products that have a profound impact on our daily lives.”
Pivotal CF and accompanying Pivotal One services will be available on November 15th.
Verizon joins Cloud Foundry
Pivotal and Verizon announced that Verizon Enterprise Solutions has joined the Cloud Foundry Community Advisory Board to help accelerate the adoption of Cloud Foundry by developers and enterprises. This announcement supports Verizon’s plan to add enterprise-class PaaS services to the new Verizon Cloud – creating an ecosystem of enterprise technologies clients can choose from to develop their environments. Verizon clients will be able to use Cloud Foundry to build cloud-based software and applications to more effectively run their business.
Verizon is developing an ecosystem of enterprise technologies that will be specifically built to run on Verizon’s new infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platform. The goal is to bring the full power and functionality of enterprise-class technology to the cloud while also giving clients control and flexibility over their environment.
“Verizon is committed to working with best-in-class technology companies to develop an ecosystem of enterprise-level, cloud-based services that run on Verizon Cloud and move businesses forward,” said John Harrobin, chief marketing officer, Verizon Enterprise Solutions. “Pivotal has been great stewards of the Cloud Foundry open source project and by joining the community advisory board and adopting Cloud Foundry for Verizon Cloud, we will make it easy for our clients to fully leverage Verizon Cloud to speed up application delivery and dynamically scale those applications to meet business demand.”
