At the Data Center Jobs Board, we have three new job listings from Google, which is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, System Architect; Electrical Engineer, Data Center; and Electrical Engineer, Data Center R&D in Mountain View, California.
The Mechanical Engineer, System Architect is responsible for influencing the shaping of future products by providing mechanical engineering insight into the technology roadmap, identifying and scoping projects around innovation opportunities as well as technology risks, developing and executing designs for complex systems backed by thorough engineering analysis, delivering robust solutions for tasks such as blind mating of high density interconnects, inject/eject mechanisms and large server racks, and taking responsibility for product design, including requirements gathering, concepts generation and detailed design, analysis and verification testing, cross functional reviews and manufacturing release. The Electrical Engineer, Data Center is responsible for defining data center electrical infrastructural system design, specifying performance requirements, and ensuring that the conceptual design drawings and programming requirements are accurate and compatible to the AEs designs, creating and coordinating on the review of conceptual design proposals to ensure conformance to Platforms design requirements including predicted power density, flexibility of power deployment, and continuous improvement of power utilizations, traveling to data center sites to perform facility evaluations, electrical systems audits, startup testing, and full commissioning, as required, and researching new materials, designs, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities. The Electrical Engineer, Data Center R&D is responsible for researching new designs, materials, technologies and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities, carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into mass production, defining data center system-level architectures, specify performance requirements, and create accurate conceptual design and programming requirements documentation, producing analyses that ensure designs satisfy requirements, including predicted performance and power quality concerns, working closely with Platforms hardware designers to optimize the interfaces between the IT equipment and the facility, and defining/creating the interface infrastructure between the facility and the IT equipment with a view for optimizing utilization and minimizing the total cost of ownership.
