Data centers are in the midst of an unprecedented construction boom. Analyst firm Omdia reports that global spending on data centers surged to $466 billion in 2024 and is expected to exceed $560 billion by 2028.

With investments increasing at a dizzying pace, the pressure to build smarter, faster, and more efficiently has never been greater. Advancing Data Center Construction (ADCC) West 2025 is where industry leaders tackle these challenges – exploring the latest trends, technologies, and partnerships to deliver high-quality, future-ready facilities on time, every time.

Taking place in Salt Lake City, Utah, from March 17–19, the event brings together experts from leading data center operators, contractors, and design firms to share insights and build connections.

“The 2025 agenda is packed with strategies to accelerate speed to market, harness new technologies, and address critical challenges in resources such as power and labor, enabling you to build efficient, high-quality data centers, on time and at scale,” said ADCC conference producer Jarred Brockett.

  • How evolving chip technology is reshaping mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

  • Adapting facility layouts to power and cooling demands.

  • Retrofitting existing facilities to meet next-gen computing needs.

Next, Bill Mazzetti, senior vice president of Rosendin Electric – one of the largest electrical contractors in the U.S. – will present a case study on ‘Assessing the Differences in AI Facility Infrastructure to Enhance Future Project Delivery.’ He will examine how Nvidia technology is reshaping mechanical and electrical infrastructure in data centers and how these changes compare to traditional cloud facilities.

Mazzetti will also dive into construction insights for rapid design prototyping and procurement execution, along with the latest architectural and electrical options for AI facility deployments.

After a networking break, the event dives into a series of expert-led panels and sessions. With some sessions running concurrently, attendees will need to plan strategically to make the most of the event.

  • Navigating current utility and transmission constraints across the West to better define favorable regulatory environments and existing infrastructure.

  • Developing innovative solutions and tapping into untouched capacity for securing power within local jurisdictions.

  • Building effective relationships with utility providers to support project power demands.

Panelists will include Dave Buckner, vice president of engineering and development at Sabey Data Centers; Aly Koslow, director of data center strategy at Arizona Public Service; and Drew Thompson, assistant VP of data center and mission critical facilities at Black & Veatch.

“During the panel, we will discuss whether existing or new interruptible electric tariffs can speed interconnection and if utility interruption requests impact back-up generator emissions permit limitations,” Thompson told Data Center Knowledge.

“We will also debate if AI and cloud data centers have different interruptible power limitations and whether operating latest modern efficient back-up generators instead of an older peaking power plant reduces actual overall emissions?”

It will feature Mustafa Husaini, senior category manager of data center construction at Google; Abhishek Bardhan, global senior vice president of data centers at Exyte; and Eric Miller, senior project manager, McCarthy Building Companies.

Over the next two days, the fast pace of ADCC West 2025 continues. You’ll hear from yet more industry opinion leaders. This includes:

  • Hani Noshi, senior program manager, project delivery, Microsoft

  • Cotton McNutt, data center business unit leader, Fortis Construction

  • Andrew Soderquist, vice president, mission critical, Big-D Construction

  • Sean Farney, vice president, data center strategy, JLL

  • Paul Vaccaro, vice president, mission critical, JE Dunn Construction

  • Matthew Burke, Director, Mission Critical & Technology Division, Hunt Electric

Among the various sessions, attendees will find out about the requirements of AI-based data centers, the latest plans of hyperscaler and colocation developers, how server density is rising rapidly, and the different options available to bring much needed power to new data centers fast.

Sustainability will also come under the microscope. Discover what’s new in the sourcing of green energy, the use of modular construction to accelerate construction timelines, and how the materials of construction are evolving to mesh with decarbonization and sustainability standards.
