John Rath has expanded beyond his Data Center Information blog to publish a white paper on data center site selection. Much of the paper is dedicated to an analysis of the geographic distribution of disasters, complete with graphics based on government data on recent patterns for hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and floods. Also included is a map of Presidential Disaster Declarations from 2000-2007 providing a county-by-county breakdown of high-risk areas, a landfall map of all hurricanes to strike the U.S. from 1950 to 2004, and a chart of all weather disasters from 1980-2006 that resulted in more than $1 billion in property damage.

If you're analyzing the geography of disasters as part of your site search, the white paper provides a good one-stop resource for this information.
