Colt, Layered Technologies and BMC have announced acquisitions recently:
Colt acquires ThinkGrid. Colt Technology Services announced that it has acquired ThinkGrid, a channel-focused cloud platform provider. This acquisition will bolster Colt's strength in cloud-based services for the indirect channel and adds approximately 200 resellers and ISV's to its partner community in the UK. ThinkGrid will leverage Colt's market reach and existing customer base across Europe while giving its resellers and customers access to Colt's products and services. "The SME market for managed services is set to grow at 15% annually during the coming years," said Francois Eloy, Executive Vice President at Colt. "Colt is well positioned to penetrate this market through our indirect channels. The acquisition of ThinkGrid further strengthens our position with the addition of a complementary range of cloud-based services. We also gain a reseller-oriented management platform and portal which will reduce our time to market across our European markets."
Layered Tech acquires New World Apps. Layered Technologies announced it has acquired NEW WORLD APPS, which specializes in secure private cloud and secure community cloud solutions for federal, state and local governments. With experience providing secure cloud and hosting services for the U.S. Intelligence Community, U.S. law enforcement, the Department of Defense, and most U.S. federal civilian agencies, NEW WORLD APPS helps secure sensitive government data around the clock. “The acquisition of NEW WORLD APPS is extremely strategic to Layered Tech because it gives us an immediate and meaningful presence in the federal and public-sector markets, which complements our compliant hosting leadership position in the financial payment card industry, healthcare and SaaS markets,” said Layered Tech Chairman and CEO Jack Finlayson. “NEW WORLD APPS is a highly respected company that is trusted with some of our nation’s most sensitive data. They have outstanding customer credentials, proven FISMA-compliant and secure hosting and cloud capabilities, and many long-standing partnerships with ISVs and SaaS providers that serve both the public and commercial markets.”
BMC acquires VaraLogix. BMC Software announced it has acquired VaraLogix, a proven application release automation provider. The acquisition will expand BMC DevOps portfolio and combined the two companies will provide an abstraction layer that allows IT teams to deploy applications regardless of programming experience. “We intend to implement VaraLogix Q to create a flexible and fast environment, allowing us to release changes to our production environments on a timely, efficient basis,” said James Obukhovsky, IT director, Infrastructure and Operations for Wet Seal, Inc. “We will seek to use this technology to impact our customer experience and sales in a positive manner.”
