Here's a quick roundup of some data center openings and customer announcements from this week:

  • Digital marketing specialist Razorfish has chosen Rackspace Hosting to build web sites and applications that can handle large traffic spikes during major promotions and product launches of brands. "While our clients turn to us for creative and other consumer-facing services, they also turn to us for services on the back end — services that ensure their sites function at an optimal level even during major spikes in traffic," said Tobias Klauder, director of IT software engineering at Razorfish. "That’s why we rely on Rackspace." An interesting wrinkle: Razorfish is owned by Microsoft.

  • iB3 Networks, Inc. (IBNW) and its iBeam Solutions subsidiary have signed an agreement to operate a 10,000 square foot data center in downtown Columbus, Ohio. All current customers will be acquired by iB3. "This is a focal point for our company, as projected revenues from this facility are expected to exceed $100,000 per month by end of 2009," said Eric Schmidt, Chief Executive Officer of iB3 Networks.

  • T3 Communications, Inc., has opened a new carrier neutral data and enterprise colocation data center in Inland Fiber & Data Technology Park, a data center campus operated by 6/10 Corp. in Winter Haven, Florida. "In order to meet the increasing demands for expansion of advanced data and voice services to businesses in Florida, Winter Haven has proven to be an ideal location," said Adam Sewall President and CEO of T3. "This facility provides T3 with its own backup operations center as well a modern collocation and disaster recovery facilities for our business and government customers."
