Internet infrastructure provider Terremark (TMRK) has begun to reap the benefits of its acquisition of Data Return and its Infinistructure utility computing platform. Terremark said this week that the environmental portal EarthLab Inc. will be hosted on its Infinistructure grid hosting platform, which was a key asset acquired in the $85 million Data Return deal. EarthLab was launched in conjunction with Live Earth on July 7, and encourages a "green approach into everyday living," motivating consumers to improve the earth's climate.
The Infinistructure utility computing platform leverages virtualization technology to optimize server utilization, helping to minimize server count and reduce the demand for space, power and cooling requirements. "We selected Terremark as our hosting provider because the company's virtualized IT solutions provide EarthLab with the highly scalable, managed solution we require for our EarthLab climate crisis community," said EarthLab creator Duane Dahl. "Terremark's unparalleled IT infrastructure will help us achieve that goal seamlessly."
