This week Google invited reporters to tour the office area of its new data center in Goose Creek, South Carolina, following up on a similar open house at its facility in Lenoir, North Carolina. The Charleston Post and Courier notes that several employees bring their dogs to the office and hold ping-pong tournaments. “We work really hard, but we play hard too,” said Bill League, data center facilities manager.
While the event focused on community relations, there was one nugget of information: Google told the paper it has no current development plans for its 466-acre site in Blythewood, South Carolina. "We regularly review our resources and customer needs, and will keep the community informed if and when new plans develop," Google said in a statement. "We expect to continue working with local officials on infrastructure and other aspects of the land acquisition.”
