Here’s a roundup of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:
Equinix selected by 8x8: Equinix (EQIX) announced that 8x8 Inc. (EGHT) has signed an agreement for colocation and interconnection services at Equinix's DC6 campus located in Ashburn, Virginia. With this addition 8x8 will have five data center operations across the United States. "The Equinix DC6 IBX data center not only enhances 8x8’s geographic diversity with increased availability and redundancy, it also provides us a local presence for our federal government customers,” said 8x8 Vice President of Network Operations Mehdi Salour.
Telx selected by Vision Net. Telx announced that Vision Net, a provider of telecommunications transport services in Montana, has selected Telx as an interconnection and colocation partner in its 350 East Cermak location in Chicago. Vision Net offers a full suite of communications services in Montana and connecting with Telx they are able to provide a greater connectivity choice through direct access to a wide array of leading carriers not available in Montana. “Vision Net is a great example of how Telx is enabling the expansion of broadband connectivity to all markets, by working closely with service providers to allow them to expand their reach cost effectively and provide the high performance infrastructure platform and services required to win in the market,” said William Kolman, EVP of Sales for Telx.
Peak 10 selected by iAM. Peak 10 announced that it is providing Cloud services for iAM Enterprises, a leading Internet-based manufacturing and retail company that creates and distributes unique 3D solutions. iAM will utilize the Peak 10 Cloud Plus platform to deploy its virtual IT environment, delivering a solution that with rapid elasticity and resource pooling that is supported by a world-class physical infrastructure. “The development of consumer ‘3-D Collective Products’ has placed iAM at the forefront of technological innovation and resulted in the need for a solid hosting provider that can support iAM Enterprises 3-D vertical markets with seamless scaling and high availability,” said Thomas Abraham, iAM’s Chairman and CEO. “Our product speed to market has been significantly enhanced by Peak 10’s turn-key cloud solutions and the knowledge of its team, all of whom have been extremely supportive of our initiatives as we continue to undergo rapid global growth.”
Multiple customer wins for Juniper. Juniper Networks (JNPR) has had several new customer announcements recently. On Monday it announced that Tring Communications, a provider of Internet, phone and digital television services in Albania, has implemented a subscriber management and security solution based on Juniper's new network architecture. On Tuesday they announced that Carilion Clinic, a Roanoke, Virginia based no-for-profit health care organization, has built a new network data center based on Juniper Networks switching and routing technologies to support the growing needs of its comprehensive clinic and new medical school. On Wednesday they announced that Dutch Service Provider IP2 Internet has deployed an all Juniper Networks infrastructure to help develop its growing business for the long term.
