Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:

Interxion selected by SIX Swiss Exchange. Interxion announced that SIX Swiss Exchange, the primary Swiss securities exchange, will offer proximity services to market participants from Interxion's Zurich data center.  With their customer base connecting to the exchange from remote trading locations, SIX Swiss Exchange will use the Zurich data center to offer low latency proximity services to improve trading performance without increasing risk.  “We are seeing strong demand for access to SIX Swiss Exchange, and this partnership complements our existing financial services hosting business," said Eddy Van den Broech, Interxion Switzerland's Managing Director.

Equinix selected by Transaction Network Services. Equinix (EQIX) announced that Transaction Network Services' (TNS) Secure Trading Extranet is now offering low-latency connectivity through Equinix's International Business Exchange data centers in Australia and Singapore.  Building their position as a key connectivity provider for Equinix these TNS deployments follow announcements for Chicago, New York, London and Frankfurt. “The presence of a robust electronic trading ecosystem within Equinix will allow us to increase our connectivity and build on our growing client base," said Alan Schwartz, President for TNS’ Financial Services Division. "We believe our joint clients will greatly benefit from this new low latency network connectivity, enabling them to capitalize on the improved speed and reliability that is key to today’s electronic trading.”

Verio European Expansion.  Online business solution provider Verio announced the expansion of its global operations with the opening of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Verio Europe.  Verio Europe consists of the former SMB division of NTT Europe Online. Headquartered in Germany, Verio Europe will offer services ranging from domain registration to shared and virtual hosting, and online backup services. “We continue to lead the market with our global OEM and partner efforts and the establishment of Verio Europe will further help us to meet the growing demand for our services, while at the same time, strengthening our overall position as the leader in delivering online solutions to SMBs worldwide," said Kiyoshi Maeda, President and CEO of Verio.
