Here’s our review of some of this week’s noteworthy links for the data center industry:

NTT launches Singapore and Malaysia data centers.  NTT Communications announced the official inauguration of its Singapore Serangoon Data Center and Malaysia Cyberjaya 3 Data Centers. As the first self-designed and built data centers outside of Japan they will serve as support for NTT's ongoing expansion in the fast-growing Asia Pacific region. The Singapore data center is connected directly to the Asia Submarine-cable Express (ASE), NTT's new undersea cable offering high-speed, high-reliability network environment between Singapore and other Asian locations including Japan. The Singapore facility has been operational since the end of February and the Malaysia Cyberjaya 3 data center began operation on April 26, serving as a remote backup and offshore site due to Malaysia's low electricity rates and stable infrastructure. "I am pleased that NTT Com has chosen Singapore to anchor this premium, high-performance data center for the region. This affirms Singapore’s position as a globally trusted hub for business critical IT services and capabilities," said Mr Ronnie Tay, Chief Executive Officer of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), who is also the Guest of Honour for the Serangoon Data Center inauguration ceremony. "I look forward to NTT Com leveraging Singapore’s strengths in infocomm infrastructure, data center capacity and large presence of technology players to expand its operations here, including through collaborating with our infocomm local enterprises in developing next generation ICT solutions."

Equinix and Syniverse partner.  Equinix (EQIX) announced the availability of the Syniverse PRIMESM IPX Solution, a global gateway for enabling IP access to the mobile cloud, in several of Equinix’s International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers. The IPX solution enables supply-chain partners such as mobile network operators (MNOs), cable providers, ISPs, and content and application providers. The Syniverse IPX solution is available in select Equinix’s IBX data centers to quickly and easily establish direct interconnections that access next-generation IP services and reach more than three billion mobile subscribers worldwide. “The Equinix global ecosystem comprises leading companies whose solutions have paved the way to enabling global interoperability within mobile and wireless,” said Jim Poole, general manager, Global Networks and Mobility at Equinix. “With hundreds of companies driving innovation and growth in the mobile industry, we see the addition of Syniverse to Platform Equinix as a great example of how our global architectural model can enhance lines of business for companies.”

AIS selected by CaliHop.  American Internet Services (AIS) announced CaliHop (formerly DreamVPS), a privately-owned dedicated and virtual server hosting provider, has selected AIS as the cornerstone for the launch of its line of high-performance dedicated servers. Looking for a data center in southern California CaliHop selected AIS for exceptional bandwidth selection and has moved into the AIS Lightwave data center in San Diego.  “AIS provided the highest quality network in the area and colocation space with more than enough power to meet our requirements,” said Joseph Manis, owner CaliHop.
