Savvis Opens New London Data Center at Docklands

Managed hosting and cloud services provider Savvis has opened its fourth UK data centre, a 10,000 square foot facility at the Docklands data district in London. The Savvis LO3 data centre features 10,800 square feet of raised floor space and can support up to 1.53 megawatts of IT load.

The additional space will allow Savvis to continues to build upon its presence in financial services, where the company is a key player in low-latency trading. The company said Savvis LO3’s location proximity to London’s financial markets offers diverse fiber routes from multiple providers offering connections to the European regions’ trading platforms. Financial customers can connect into more than 200 global exchanges and alternative liquidity venue feeds either hosted in Savvis data centres or via a pair of resilient cross-connects into Savvis Markets Infrastructure Connectivity, the company’s financial extranet service.

Savvis said the expansion would enable the blending of colocation, managed services and cloud into flexible hybrid platforms for future client needs.

The new facility continues a global expansion of Savvis' data center footprint that began in 2010. Savvis has existing European locations in the Docklands, Slough and Reading n the UK as well as Frankfurt, Germany. Globally, Savvis currently operates a Tier 1 application transport network and more than 50 data centres with more than 2 million square feet of raised floor space.
