Equinix opens Switzerland data center. Equinix (EQIX) announced that the first phase of its fifth data center in Zürich—the ZH5 International Business Exchange is open for business. ZH5 is connected to the rest of the Equinix Zürich data center campus and its first phase consists of 1,060 square meters (11,200 square feet) of high-density power customer space. The data center has been built with sustainability in mind and to Gold LEED certification standards, with 100 percent green power as certified by Swiss energy provider EWZ. "This expansion in Switzerland underlines Equinix's leadership in the market and our continued commitment to provide state-of-the art IBX data centers in strategic geographic locations to help our customers grow," said Marco Dottarelli, managing director, Equinix Switzerland. "With two of the largest internet exchanges in Switzerland at their disposal, customers will have immediate access to leading levels of network density and ecosystems, which will enable them to reduce costs, benefit from enhanced performance and add value to their business."

Internap selected by Bango. Internap Network Services (INAP) announced that mobile payments and analytics company Bango is using Internap’s colocation and Performance IP connectivity to ensure low latency and high availability for the seamless delivery of more than three billion mobile subscriber events each month. Bango deployed Internap’s Managed Internet Route Optimizer (MIRO) technology, part of its Performance IP connectivity service, in order to ensure rapid payment transaction times and low latency.  “Before switching to Internap, we investigated a number of potential providers. Due to the nature of our business, the ability to ensure the rerouting of data where relevant to keep latency levels to a minimum is critical,” said David Keeling, Chief Operating Officer at Bango. “Internap’s high-performance connectivity coupled with its premium colocation and 100% uptime SLA stood out among competitors. Its Performance IP service makes millions of calibrations each day to route Internet traffic across the optimal path and ensure that our services are online and accessible to the millions of end users that rely on them.”
