Hewlett-Packard to build $60m data center in New Zealand - Hewlett-Packard will build a $60 million datacentre that could house some of the country's most important computer systems in a Waikato farming town. HP enterprise services country manager Gavin Greaves said Tuakau, population 3508 and 61 kilometres from Auckland, would make an ideal location for the world's largest computer maker to house computers for customers in New Zealand and Asia-Pacific." Datapipe Power U.S. Operations With Renewable Energy - Managed hosting provider Datapipe said this week thatall of its U.S. based data centers are now powered by 100 percent renewable energy. As part of the company’s sustainability strategy, Datapipe’s California data center, located in San Jose, has fully converted to running operations on renewably sourced electricity. Datapipe converted its other U.S.-based data centers to renewable power in 2010. "Datapipe has significantly expanded its purchase of RECs (renewable energy certificates) to be equivalent to the power usage of its U.S. data centers," the company said. "This green power purchase of 56 million kWh is unparalleled in the data center and hosting industry." Press release.
SOASTA Awarded Patent on Cloud its GUI - SOASTA, a specialist in cloud-based performance testing, announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued the company a patent on its visual interface to enable testers and performance engineers to quickly build and maintain complex performance tests using SOASTA CloudTest’s task-specific editors. Alhambra SCE data center moves closer to reality - The planning commission in Alhambra, Calif. is expected to approve a permit for a 62,000 square foot Southern California Edison data center in the city. The center will be housed within the existing Alhambra-based Southern California Edison campus at 501 South Marengo Ave. It will replace the data center currently located on Edison's Rosemead campus. McAfee Adds Data Center in London - McAfee announced today the activation of its fifth cloud data center in the past 12 months. The newest data center, located in London, - expands the company’s global cloud security footprint, which includes data centers in Amsterdam, Sydney, Tokyo and several cities across North America. A new cloud data center in Hong Kong is expected to be online in the coming weeks. Press release.
