Here’s our review of some of this week’s noteworthy links for the data center industry:
Online Tech adds PCI Hosting. Online Tech announced it has expanded its compliant computing platform to include PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry - Data Security Standard) audited cloud computing. Backed up with annual audits, the Online Tech cloud solution is now compliant with PCI-DSS and HIPAAA. UHY Advisors, LLC conducted the PCI audit of Online Tech and issued a 127-page Report on Compliance with results on 297 tests that covered all 12 PCI-DSS requirements. Online Tech passed with 100% compliance. "PCI compliance requires a fundamentally higher level of security than most cloud computing vendors can deliver” said Yan Ness, CEO of Online Tech. “A lot of companies can – and do – say that they’re HIPAA or PCI compliant. But Online Tech can actually show that, in addition to our HIPAA-audited cloud computing, our PCI compliance was also audited by an independent, third-party auditor.”
Hostway launches replication and DR service. Hostway announced the beta launch of its new virtual machine replication service, one of the first VM replication services for disaster recovery on Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V. This service is enabled by the Hyper-V Replica feature included in the newly released Windows Server 2012. The new service enables organizations to leverage the company’s public or private cloud infrastructures to establish a real-time, compliance-quality, reliable DR solution. “Hostway’s multiple, geographically dispersed datacenters enable customers worldwide to take full advantage of the new Hyper-V Replica capability in Windows Server 2012. By giving customers a solution based on Hyper-V Replica, Hostway gives customers a robust, affordable and easy-to-manage VM disaster recovery solution,” said Ian Carlson, Director, Product Marketing, Server and Tools, Microsoft.
ViaWest selected by SympIT. ViaWest announced that it has been selected by SympIT to provide flexible cloud computing services with its KINECTed Cloud solution. The KINECTed Cloud offers organizations cost-effective access to a dynamic pool of computing, storage and networking resources. “ViaWest was the clear winner when deciding on a long-term partner to entrust our growing business,” states Seth Patterson, Co-Founder and Partner at SympIT. “Our choice was not only due to ViaWest’s advanced data centers and breadth of services, but also to the company’s experienced technical teams. By migrating to ViaWest’s cloud computing platform, our website performance increased by over 50%, with our webpages loading much more quickly than before.”
