Cargo ships aren't the only non-traditional data center concepts we've covered recently. Here are some others.

Our recent story on data centers on cargo ships is only the latest "out of the box" idea about where to build and deploy data centers. We've written about a number of non-traditional data center locations this year, including data centers in the following places:

  • Missile bunkers

  • Former military communications sites

  • Caves in Japan and Missouri, among other places.

  • A former chapel

  • Old shopping malls
