Amazon Planning $1.1bn Data Center Project In Central Ohio - Amazon is planning a major data center in Ohio. Columbus Business First (CBF) has surfaced plans for a massive project in Central Ohio. The e-commerce and cloud computing giant’s data center development unit Vadata Inc. was approved for two state tax credits of over $81 million from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority for the data center project.
Weekend Earthquake A Disaster Recovery Reminder - A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck 6 miles southwest of Napa, California on Sunday. No casualties have been reported, though extensive damage to property occurred, including devastating damage to wine country. Although data centers safely navigated through the quake, it was a reminder that they must always be prepared for natural disasters.

One such crisis has brewing in California’s Monterey County, which is experiencing water shortages because of the severe drought plaguing the state, and where a group of entrepreneurs and local officials have come up with an idea to build a massive water desalination plant to address the crisis.
Skanska Named Contractor For Facebook Data Center Project - Swedish construction company Skanska was named general contractor for Facebook’s new data center project in Sweden. The project is estimated to be worth SEK 530 million (about $76.5 million USD).
